Potato gravy or aloo ki sabzi is a delicious flavorful potato gravy that even a newbie can try. Let's see how to prepare this spicy gravy.
Ginger (grated/paste) - 1/2 tsp
- Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds into it and let it splutter. After that add cumin seeds and mix it well.
- Add ginger and garlic paste and saute it for few seconds.
- Then add chopped green chilly to make spicy (Do not put green chilly while making for kids). Fry green chilly for few seconds.
- Then add chopped onions. Stir it on medium flame till the onions become translucent.
- Add chopped tomatoes to it and mix well. To this add 1/2 tsp salt to make the cooking fast. Mix it well and cook till the tomatoes become soft and mushy.
- Add turmeric powder, red chilly powder and coriander powder to it. Mix all the spices and cook it on medium flame.
- Then add cooked potatoes and freshly chopped coriander leaves.
- Add salt to taste (I have added salt while frying tomatoes so add salt accordingly).
- Then add garam masala. Mix it well till all the spices gets well combined.
- Add water to make potato gravy or curry (Add water as per the desired consistency). Mix it well and bring it to boil. Then cover the lid and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Serve hot as a side dish with chapati, poori (breakfast recipes) or rice.
Useful tips:
- Do not put green chilly while making for kids.
